Some Day I'll Find You (46 minute documentary. 2013)
This story is a merger of local news and folk legend which took me at least two years to make into a documentary. Having spent time with a repo man in the Black Country (English Midlands) for a C4 documentary, I became fascinated by this relatively unsung part of the UK which played a huge part in the industrial revolution. Working with a local journalist, Gavin Jones, I became intrigued by a phenomenon whereby small drawings of the opera star and Hollywood legend, Mario Lanza had been deposited incognito in the region for no less than 50 years. Finding a way to tell it took the time but I came up with this, an art detective documentary. It premiered at Open City (London) in 2013 and then Flatpack FF (Birmingham) and several others with multiple one-off screenings and Q&As with much local interest.
