Kay Mander (5 minute short. 2001/2022)

This is a five minute short I originally shot in 2000. It's a portrait of Kay Mander who was a pioneering British woman documentary film-maker of the 1940s. When I met her she was 88, vivacious and engaged, yet living a simple life in a holiday chalet in Scotland. This short film I made is included in a 2022 BFI release featuring films by British women documentarists from the 1930s onwards. It's called 'The Camera is Ours'.
